Bob Jackson 531

Bob Jackson 531

About

Late ’60’s Bob Jackson. Some kind of sport-tourer, custom to the original owner. My own build out of canabalized and new parts. Big, tall and plush. Ratty original paint.

My beater and main hack. Coffeeshop cruiser, beer-getter, and day-tourer.

This is kind of a reaction agains all the fenderless, too-light, too-many-geared racing bikes out there (although I have one of those too—collecting dust). This is bomber, no-maintainance, lock-and leave, versatile, do-everything bike that actually fits. And that actually gets ridden.

I was pretty happy to find this in a bike-shop basement. Saved me the $1400 and stress of getting a custom frame.

Long dropouts and no braze-ons—perfect for FG. Points and shoots with ease, but is no-hands stable; plush but stiff out of the saddle.

Comments

Nice machine. Love the red cloth bar tape and the B66 – the bike has a bit of Rivendell about it. Nothing better than finding a bike that rides sweetly and you can use everyday.
